I Finally Styled My Bedroom

I moved into my new place over a year ago and I finally got around to decorating my bedroom.

In my defense I stay pretty busy and there there was that little weather event that we had last September to occupy my time.

I had been planning it for months in my head (and on a Pinterest board) and with with my kids coming for spring break I decided to bite the bullet and clicked the ‘order’ button on Amazon.

I started off only ordering bits and pieces to see how everything would work together.  Slowly things started to arrive…a curtain rod here, a plastic butterfly there, it was all starting to come together.  Finally my twinkly lights came and I was elated.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about them.  I love a good twinkle light more then the next guy but I wasn’t sure if it was going to be overkill or not.

To my great surprise everything fit together perfectly (good thing I measured twice).  I was so excited for the girls to see it.  It has been many many many years since I have taken on such a project and I needed their validation.  Jacqueline would just stare at me out of the corner of her eye and ask me every once in a while if I needed any help.  Victoria, on the other hand, took one look at it and said “It looks like every blogger’s background from the early 2000’s.” I love my kids.

While I was mentally preparing I had some ideas that I needed help with.  I decided to elicit Jacqueline’s help for some of the finer details.  She is very artistic and always loves to help her mother.  I sent her a couple of pictures of some floral arrangements and asked if she could make something similar for me.  She has access to multiple crafts store while I have the Dollar Tree.  She accepted my challenge and said she would whip something up and bring it with her when she came for spring break.  But when she arrived a couple of weeks later she was empty handed. I was heart broken.

Little did I know that mere days prior to my asking for her help she had decided to make me a present as a ‘thank you’ for helping her and her sister move into their new house.  She played it perfectly and and pretended that she had ‘forgot.’  She got me good.  I was sooo disappointed and even more surprised and happy when she presented me with the almost exact thing that I had asked her for (if you remember she made this prior to me asking for her help).  I could not have been more happy.

To top it off her sister showed up with a framed photo from one of my favorite movies: Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  She had found it at a thrift store and picked it up for next to nothing.

Now when I lay in bed it warms my heart and puts a big smile on my face because I know I’m loved.

Now for the good stuff…

The curtain of lights was rather simple.  I followed the instructions from this post: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/433682639111137259/
but replaced the Christmas lights with a curtain of led sting lights and I was up and running.

Ivory sheer curtains.  My wall was just over 10′ long and ordered four sets of these to get the desired look:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0155EB2J8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
